A Sunny Sunday in Tulsa

Sunday was a beautifully sunny day so Adam and I put on many layers and headed out. Adam was very excited to have an opportunity to play with his new fancy-dancy camera.

One of the surprising things we have discovered is that Tulsa is full of parks. They have all sorts of neighborhood parks with playgrounds and fitness focused parks. When its not brutally cold, we are going to try to explore them more fully.

Our first stop was the Historical Society House & Garden House. Both are huge houses and there is a multi-acre rose garden. I cannot wait until spring when the roses start to bloom. These houses were built by Russian immigrant brothers in the 1920s.

We then drove down to the river. There is a 10+ mile walking trail that starts down in Jenks (near Adam's job site) and follows the river all the way to downtown. The wind was brutal and it was cold but that didn't seem to bother any of the Tulsa natives. One of the neatest things about this trail is that they have free bikes that you can rent. You simply have to secure it with a credit card and return it within 48 hours to not be charged. All the bikes were rented on Sunday but hopefully next time, we can get on them!

Tomorrow the weather channel is forecasting doom & gloom for Tulsa. We are expecting about 1 inch of ice then up to 1 foot of snow on top of it. We have also been told to expect power outages of 1 to 5 days. AHHH! I stocked us up on some food yesterday. Today I'm going to purchase some candles & an extra flashlight. Adam might be happy that I talked him into bring the extra blankets!
